This fu dog carving is gorgeous! This fu dog is carved from reconstituted tagua nut (otherwise known as ivory nut for its ability to replace real ivory as a sustainable carving material). It is approximately 5.5cm tall and weighs approximately 50-60g. This listing is for one (1) fu dog. It may or may not be the exact one pictured.

Vegetable ivory or tagua nut is a product made from the very hard white endosperm of the seeds of certain palm trees. It's known as the “vegan ivory” because it is a sustainable (and humane) carving alternative to real ivory.

Fu Dogs (Foo Dogs) are Chinese protection symbols of feng shui that typically “guard” the entrance-ways to buildings and homes. They should be placed on either side of a door or entryway looking outward. Facing the entrance, the male should be on the right and the female on the left. If they are small statuettes, bookends or table lamps with foo dog bases, you should keep them in one room on the same table or shelf

Please see the pictures and/or video of each listing to view the item's condition. Please note that due to the nature of crystals/stones, each one may have slight imperfections, including on carved pieces.
